In my MFA program we not only had to read each other's work every week and turn in something new, we also had 30 credits of lit classes for the degree, so in one semester, during one week on that side of the program, I had to read two Iris Munich novels, The Ambassadors, and Wuthering Heights in three other classes.
haha. As a 23+ year writing teacher, I know this double response well. It's necessary for your mental health. When I get a good one, I type in the air over my keyboard with the appropriate amount of drama while dictating just what I would say and laughing at my own jokes. Once I've squeezed enough of it out of my system to be nice, my fingers come down and I find myself producing an acceptable and hopefully useful and compassionate reply.
Hahah. I like your asshole version. But the gentle one is probably more effective in being received. I can't relate to 5000 words in two weeks being too much. I remember having intense load in university, with projects, essays, tests, every week, plus work, plus other duties, plus social life, plus chronic condition. It's all about planning your time wisely, and you'll do fine.
Jane needs the Asshole to English Dictionary, Student Edition. "Hot garbage" 😂
That was a fun read, thanks.
